The garden at Skeldale House prepares to Dig for Victory as we take a look at gardening during the 1940's. With authentic seed varieties, traditional growing methods and ways to preserve your produce we go back to a time when growing your own food was essential to supplement meagre war time rations.

Christmas Traditions

Join in the festivities as Skeldale House is dressed for an authentic 1940's Christmas season, with traditional decorations and festive fare on the tables, a visit will put you in mind to celebrate.

Join us for a showing of Wallace and Gromit in the Wrong trousers and get creative with our craft activity, make your own Shaun the Sheep puppet

Home Grown - activities for children

Tuesday 27 May 2008, 2-3pm

Get your green fingers ready as we learn about plants we can grow at home, even without a garden. Decorate your own plant pot and create a cress head creature to take home with you.

Creepy Crawlies Crafts

Taking inspiration from the wildlife and creepy crawlies lurking in our gardens, we will create our very own beautiful butterflies, flapping ladybirds, slimy snails, buzzy bumble bees and scary spiders

Become a story searcher as we delve deep into to unlease the hidden stories inside us. Exploring our favourite stories, find out what it takes to become and author, like james herriot and get creative as we make and decorate our own mini story books.

Batty About Bats

Tuesday 19th August

Bat Facts - Come and meet our expert leslie Helliwell and some of her rescued bats. From Britian's smallest the pipistrelle to the noctule as well as the brown long - eared. Find out about bat biology and bat conservation and create your own flapping bat to take home.

Summer Storytimes

Every Thursday in August, 2pm - 3pm

Get comphy as we listen to stories and bring the to life through song and crafts. These interactive sessions have been specially designed for familys with children aged 0 - 6.
